Solar eclipses are one of those things that just seem too perfect to be random. The fact that the apparent sizes and locations work out this way is mind boggling.

If it was during totality you shouldn’t have needed glasses, and if you were looking at it through glasses you should not have been seeing spots. That’s a sign of shoddy glasses that don’t meet the correct requirements. A bunch of those were getting sold last year once people started running out of the good ones.
